Can and do strings lose their sound, or are they good until they start fraying? I've had my Mainland concert for a yeay and three days. I'm sure it came with Aquilas but it is losing it's sound/sustain. It's "dead" sounding. Time to change?

The main pro in town said something in class last night that I had never heard before. Even if the strings don't sound dead he will change them when they start playing out of tune in the high frets. I think that works for him since he's been playing forever. For me I haven't worked out how to play the high frets without bending the strings yet. :)

Oh, by high frets I mean the frets on the sound board (15+).

Chang em Rocko! It's a good idea to change them every 3-6 months on average. Putting new strings on is like getting a new uke again! Well almost...
