http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s268/bbycrts/Sukies%20ukie/MBmailman.jpg It was a big day at my house at 11 a.m. My new ukulele arrived! Guess what I got? A Moore Bettah!!!
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s268/bbycrts/Sukies%20ukie/DSC_0009.jpg These next 2 photos are from Chuck. He takes way better photos than I do.

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s268/bbycrts/Sukies%20ukie/photo.jpg This is the killer sound hole. Pictures don't do it justice. The nose of the flamingo shimmers.

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s268/bbycrts/Sukies%20ukie/headstockphoto.jpg I had asked Chuck if he could do an ukulele with a flamingo on it. Stupid question, huh?
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s268/bbycrts/Sukies%20ukie/MBbottom.jpg Chuck had told me he had a surprise for me. He put these palms around the pick up. Unbelievable.
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s268/bbycrts/Sukies%20ukie/fretboardphoto.jpg Why have only one flamingo when more are better? OMG! Moore Bettah -- get it? :-)
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s268/bbycrts/Sukies%20ukie/sidephoto.jpg Check out the side. It's 5A curly koa.

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s268/bbycrts/Sukies%20ukie/pegheadsphoto.jpg I'm already in love with peg head tuners. Way better than friction.
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s268/bbycrts/Sukies%20ukie/fullfrontphoto.jpg One more little photo of my new baby.

This is an absolutely stunning ukulele. It is a super concert made out of 5A curly koa. It's an ebony fretboard with a Spanish Cedar neck.

Initially Chuck wasn't so sure about doing a sound hole inlay. I begged. Really. I'm so glad he changed his mind. The inlay in absolutely incredible! I think Chuck outdid himself with the inlay work. You really can't see how much the inlays shimmer. He has used Abalone, pink Mussel shell, Tahitian Black pearl and a couple other things.

I immediately loved the peghead tuners. They are super easy to use and tuning has become a snap.

I have one or two more pictures to put up that show some beautiful details of the wood and the binding.

Oh! How does it sound? Magnificent. I have been playing a KoAloha concert for 2 years and I really love the sound of it. This ukulele sounds even better. Not quite so harsh, but maybe it's the strings. I can't remember what type of strings Chuck put on. We didn't agree about it, so I told him to put on whatever he wanted. I can always change them. If it sounds this nice now, imagine how it'll sound in a year once it opens up. Chuck told me to think about how the wood has changed from being a tree to being an ukulele. Makes perfect sense to me.

This is the be-all-end-all ukulele for me. It's gorgeous, it sounds gorgeous and I feel really lucky to have Chuck Moore build me this ukulele. I think he enjoyed making it too. Except for the flamingo theme he had pretty much free reign to make what he wanted. He read my mind perfectly. I think he is a real ukulele master builder and I am so proud to be a new Moore Bettah owner.

Wow Sukie, so happy for you!
It really looks amazing. I would want to play it all the time and show it off to everyone, but I would also be afraid to take it out of the house.

Congatulations, Sukie! It's absolutely stunning! Did it come with a case, and, if so, what kind? I've always been curious about what folks do for cases for the super sizes....

How did my mailman like having his picture taken? He was fine. I had told him 2 days ago this was coming. He is a very nice mailman. (Like our Don here)

I got "on the list" in April and Chuck started it in mid August. I received it today. 6 months, I guess.

It came with an alligator Uke Crazy case. It's a tenor case I think. Need the length for the neck. I'll keep a t-shirt in it to pad the bottom.

Great job on the theme Sukie. You're right about Chucks photos. I saw the uke on his site but had no idea it was yours. Love the palm inlay into the fret board. I think that is my favorite part (no offense to the flamigo). My second favorite would be the inlay around the end pin. He didn't have a pic on his site for that. Really nice.

For the first time in my life... I don't want to know how much.

Thanks! You know, your sound hole is really what put me over the edge. I NEEDED to have Chuck Moore build me an ukulele with a flamingo sound hole. He originally declined to do a sound hole. I'm SO glad he changed his mind. It is such a stunning musical instrument I can't believe it. It plays like butter and believe it or not, I sound like a better player than I really am. I love my Moore Bettah.

Each time I visit the man, I learn more and more about all the finer details that you never hear about, which goes into a build. It's those little tweaks here and there which give it stunning looks, fine craftsmanship, superb sound, and effortless playability! He is an artist, and the ukulele, his canvas. Give him that space to do his magic and you'll have a unique piece of art! The cool thing about a custom is similar to getting a tattoo, there is usually a story or meaning behind the design. I don't really care for pink, but your ukulele is quite the exception!
