Several years ago, I wrote a little poem called "Rockabilly Beat"

Whatever happened to that Rockabilly Beat
You could clap your hands and stamp your feet
The guys were so cool and the girls really neat
Whatever happened to that Rockabilly Beat
Put a nickel in the jukebox
Slide on your blue suede shoes
Let Guy Mitchell sing you the blues
Elvis swung his hips
Bill Haley showed us some tricks
These guys swept you off your feet
Whatever happened to that Rockabilly Beat
Ricky Nelson was so clean cut
The Blue Caps tore us up
Eminen
Linkin Park
Insane Clown Posse
Do me a favor
Hit delete
Nothing compares to that Rockabilly Beat

I knew nothing about writing poetry! It was just something that came to me one day. Back then, I was a HUGE fan of the rockabilly sound and all of the groups and singers that sang rockabilly. Maybe someday (in the far future) lol I will revise the poem and make it into a song for the ukulele.

Can it be done? Of course it can! Anything is possible with the ukulele! :)

Aloha Michele,
I think that was sooo cool!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Have fun and enjoy!! "Keep strumming them strings" MM Stan...

Hey Michelle

that's an awesome poem...it flows real nice and you could definately swing some chords around those words and tie them together with a melody

...the "whatever happenned to the rockabilly beat" line could be your refrain...I feel an up tempo chunking song comin' on!!! :)
