Slowing down MP3's and Microphone question

Hi all. Is there a freeware program that I can use for analyzing songs? I have been using Windows Media Player for slowing down songs to 50% but I need to do more than that. A program where I can set the speed and choose to repeat certain parts of a song automatically would be great.

I am looking for an microphone that I can plug into the mic socket of my PC. I would like to be able to play a song and then listen to it after as I think this would help me improve. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive microphone that suits my needs?

I think Audacity will fit your software needs and it is FREE.

VLC is also free and can slow songs waaaaaaaay down.

As far as mics go, if all you want to do is listen to yourself, any el-cheapo mic from Target or Amazon or whatever will do the trick. But don't just limit yourself to ones that plug into the mic port of your computer. There are also some inexpensive USB mics that might be worth a look.
