ukulele piano duet?

so right now im thinking of performing a ukulele and piano duet with my friend at a party in december.. but i was just thinking, does adding a ukulele make it sound good? the song we're planning on playing is "kiss the rain" by korean pianist Yiruma.

the ukulele part which I'm tabbing out is mostly picking 1 or 2 strings and a couple strums thrown in... and the song is a gentle song so im still unsure of how it would sound...

so tell me your opinion or thoughts on the idea of picking on a ukulele with a piano, would it sound nice, bad, not great, or whatever... btw my uke is probably gonna be plugged into an amp instead of using the mic..

My first concern would be the disparity in volume between a piano and a uke, and that the piano would drown out the uke. But then you mentioned you'll have an amp, so that's good.

I think ukulele and piano duets can sound really lovely. One song that instantly came to mind is "Don't Say" by St. Lola in the Fields (I can't figure out if it's a uke or guitar, but sounds like uke to me). I think the quieter the song is, the better it will enhance both instruments.

I think it's a good combination. I recorded a ragtime piece with two ukes in unison, and piano backup. It sounds about right. When I try uke and guitar, I don't like it as well.

it's plug time: if you want to hear some nice sounding ukulele and piano, look up an album released about 6 months back in Australia by a father and daughter piano / ukulele duo, Dick and Christa Hughes...their album "21st century Blues" is awesome...Dick has great jazz chops on the keys and his daughter is a rough and tumble showgirl...together they're fantastic. Also check out Janet Klein's albums with her Parlor Boys. I reckon piano and uke is a great combination provided, of course, you get the live sound mix right

I play some of piano and ukulele so this is some thing im going to try soon by some how recording each individual recordings of piano and ukulele or just bring this to my art school and have some one play piano or ukulele for me.
