My son who is 26 sent me this email: "Here's a vid of a guy from a group called "Neutral Uke Hotel," which is really a tribute band that plays nothing but 'Neutral Milk Hotel' songs. N. Milk H. had some success in the indie music scene maybe 6 or so years ago. This is a vid of one of the N. Uke H. members accompanied by a local band, Communist Daughter (who I've played with)."

Here's the full band site:

My son is in a band called "Speeds the Name".

Actually Neutral Milk Hotel was a little bit further back. Jeff Mangum (the guy who was NMH) hung it up after the tour for "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_the_Aeroplane_over_the_Sea)" in 1998. He's sort of become the indie rock version of JD Salinger.

I saw him a couple of times in the 90's. The Aeroplane show at the 400 Club had almost a dozen people onstage including a sousaphone & singing saw. Absolutely astounding show.

They were just one of many really quite good bands that were part of the Elephant 6 Collective (http://www.elephant6.com/).

This has been your music geekery post for today.

I was about to point this out, but you beat me to it! Also, Mangum did a live show in New Zealand around 7 or so years ago, and of course, it was bootlegged. It was great!
