PINEAPPLE UKULELE by Richwood

As I've opened more than one thread about me searching high and low for a cheap ukulele for my painting project, I stumbled across this, which I may very well consider purchasing.

I know almost nothing about ukuleles other than the common brands like Kala, Mahalo, Kamaka etc.

Can anyone give me some opinions on this ukulele?

Sorry I've never heard of that brand, but if it's just going to be an art object I'm sure it would work fine. If you want to play it though I would stick with the Makala, we have several Makala's in the family (but not a pineapple) and they are all nice playing good sounding uke's. The paint may dull the sound a bit, but I think it would still be a good player.

I used to own one, was my second uke. Problem was I didn't know about Aquila strings back then so it didn't sound too great, but is a cute little thing.

I was in Melmusic on the weekend and had a strum of the Mahalo and the Lanakai, and actually preferred the sound of the Mahalo (herasy I know). http://www.melmusic.com.au/product/mahalo-uk320p/. Ten dollars shipping!, Is there not a store in Sydney that stocks these?? I wouldn't be afraid to ask what the cash price is if you can find one locally.

When I first saw it, I was very intrested...it looked pretty good and had open geared tuners....but when I played the
video, it sounded kinda bright...maybe some premimum strings would do it some good...as for painting project, I like
pineappe's design for it....more than the standard ukes....MM Stan

I initially considered Mahalo and Makala as well, but you've probably already noticed that musical instruments sold in the US and UK are significantly cheaper than Australia, let alone the markups in price in our local music stores.
Moreover, our Australian dollar is currently ridiculously high! We Aussies should take advantage of this opportunity to make international transactions, while we can

I was just thinking, since that uke is really bright sounding, and painting a uke makes it duller sounding, would that put its sound to a balance? I'm just making a blind guess. haha.

The total cost is almost exactly the same as the RichWood uke. I haven't played both so I really can't tell which is a better value for the price!
The Richwood uke is 37.49pounds + 8.39pounds for shipping,
while the Makala uke is 24.99pounts + 19.80pounds for shipping.

So they both come out to pretty much the same price.
