Does this work like a color wheel? Does it come with directions for newbies?

Yes and yes. The wheel is on the outside of a book that explains the whole "circle of fifths" concept and how to use the wheel.

Thanks for sharing it... I think I must have one.. I have a color wheel that makes crafting easier..
There is some great information on that site too...
