I got to see Sukies new uke over the weekend in Chicago. It was truely stunning.

I had hoped to play it but that did not work out. We were never in a spot that was quiet enough to give it a critical listening which was very disappointing.

She showed it to Jake after the concert and I hear he took it for a bit of a spin.

A gorgeous piece of work. kudos

I was there too. It looks even better in person. And as amazing as the flamingos are, the wood blew me away even more.

The funny thing about it is for as amazing as her MB looked and sounded, it hasn't reached it's full potential yet. Wait till the wood starts to really open up. I have had my MB or a year and a half now and she sounds better every time I play her. IMO, Chuck is the best luthier out there bar none. His ukes are so well made and so pretty that the way they sound is often a secondary item. But if you ever get a chance to play one, you quickly forget what it looks like because the sound is amazing.
I know Jake has seen Chuck's work before. There was a pic floating around last year of him playing Spooner's MB.

I was pretty bummed that there was not a good time to try Sukies. I was very curious about the tone, intonation and feel. A very big missed opportunity. But that's how things go. It was a very busy night.

ditto!!!!!!

The inlay around the sound hole is really stunning.

Pictures don't do the soundhole justice. The nose is iridescent. It's a stunning ukulele and I absolutely love it.

You guys are killing me. I've got eight more months to go on the waiting list for my Moore Bettah. I may have to quit surfing this porno site.

Good info. Didn't know he was backed up that far. How long have you been on the list?

Hey, I'm new to this whole thing, and most ukuleles look pretty much the same to me... but those ukuleles are absolutely amazing. So beautiful, and imaginative. I don't know if I will ever see one in real life, but it gives me something to look forward to.

A big round of applause to the maker!

Bobj,

There is another thread where a Japanese television crew filmed Chuck at his home/shop. The show will be on Japanese television next year.

I got on at the end of October. About 3 days later Chuck posted a note on his website that his list was now full. I had sat on the fence for a couple of weeks trying to decide if I should first buy the Moore Bettah or the Mya Moe NWAS. The Moore Bettah was just too much eye candy to pass up and I've heard they sound great, to boot. We're talking about an NSB here. What Chuck considers his truly custom work, I believe is waitlisted at 2 years and he said he wasn't taking any more orders for those either.

Yeh. I caught that note before. I would like to see it, but I've no idea when it will play. We don't often have the tv on.
