Christmas uke?

Me too 52blues...got a few actually:

"The Rebel Jesus" by Jackson Browne
"Sittin On The Ice in the IceRink" by George Formby
"Shaving Cream" a trad. novelty song for which I've re-written the lyrics Christmas style
"Jesus Was A Capricorn" by Kris Kristofferson
"Nothin But A Child" by Steve Earle, and
"Bare Necessities" as an anti-materialism song vs. the West's general treatment of Christmas

I also run a little choir and we are working on a number of the great old Carols and faves like "Rudolph", "Jingle Bells", "Santa Claus is Coming..."

I've been working on an arrangement for Silent Night to impress the GF... she goes christmas bonkers!

I've noticed that in general alot of Christmas songs are kind of hard to learn. Not alot of 1-4-5's

As a guitar player first I found that Christmas songs were...well...just harder to play with all those chords too. A good friend of mine wrote a great song that I'll share with you. I heard it once a few years ago but couldn't find a recording of it so I made my own version. After hearing it here in this recording mine isn't that close....oh well....enjoy!

I've been learning the chords for Jingle Bell Rock, Winter Wonderland, Sleigh Ride and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. Oddly enough, the version of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas I've been learning uses the same chord progression (G - Em - Am - D7) found in Always Look On The Bright Side of Life from Monty Python's Life of Brian and Spamalot.

hey Mark

any chance you could post the link to your version of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"?...

I have a work colleague who wants me to accompany her singing it for our Carols night, but can't find a good version.

Aloha Eugene,
I never heard of that one: Jesus is a Capricorn....makes sense..gotta check it out!!
Kris Kristofferson eh? thanks for sharing....MM Stan....

Yep, the two songs I'm doing now are Seeso's version of "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire)" and "Christmas Time Is Here" (the Charlie Brown Christmas song).

Chestnuts: http://ukuleleunderground.com/forum...Roasting-On-an-Open-Fire)&highlight=christmas
Charlie Brown: http://travellifeisshort.com/ChristmasTimeIsHere.pdf (I can't remember where I downloaded this but if anyone is upset about a potential copyright violation please just let me know and I will take it down)

Thanks, I really like the "Christmas Time is Here"... sounds really great on the uke!

The version I have comes through Ukulele Mike's tutorial on YouTube:

On the YouTube page for this tutorial, there's this link to a downloadable pdf at mediafire.com: http://www.mediafire.com/?zyumyedcnt8ulmr

There are also several versions at chordie.com. http://chordie.com/browsesong.php/h.php?start=1192&end=1587&filter=

Awesome Tabs!!!! Thanks so much!!!

Sorry. What tabs? I only saw vids

Angels We Have Heard On High

Which apparently is actually called "Gloria." My good friend emailed John King a few years ago and got his personal arrangement of the tune. It's not for the faint of heart––I put in more than a few hours to be able to consistently play it.

I put the tabs up on the instructional site I'm building: TallGrassU.com
