After many months, I think I have learned the monstrously difficult piece that is Bach's Invention No 4, transcribed by Ed Whitehead based off the Jake video.

I feel like I've ascended the mountain but im not sure what to learn next. Anyone have a recommendation of another piece of classical music that I could learn that has tab available online?

Wow, that was really great! My only complaint is that the recording volume could have been louder.

Don't have any specific recommendations, and I know you said tabs online, but for someone playing at your level, the John King book would be a good investment. It has several very nice Bach pieces. If you haven't seen it, there's a Gavotte for free download from his site.

Our own Chief Noda has done some very nice transcriptions.

Michael Parmenter does a lot of lesser known pieces, including Renaissance. He puts out a new piece just about every weekend. Some in high g, some in low, some in both, and even some bari now and then.

Jamie Holding has some free arrangements as well as some e-books for sale.

Wilfried Welti's book has a lot of fairly easy classical pieces.

Wow thanks for all those recommendations. I think there's enough material there to last me quite a while.

I know the video was soft, but its hard to position the mic in a comfortable place on my desk near my uke.

I think Ill be picking up that John King book as it looks to be similar to what I have just learned and a good next step.

Im always open to good song recommendations with picking in them if anybody has any.

Thanks a bunch

What about the entire Two-Part Inventions? All 15 (?) of them. That would be so cool.

And Chaconne by Bach. It's long and fast. It's one of my dream pieces.

You should do it before Jake does!

Cheers

Wow Chaconne by Bach seems intense but awesome at the same time. Are there any resources out there for the ukulele yet? I've seemed to find some classical guitar tabs, but it transcribing things to uke is a skill that I've have yet to master.

I haven't seen anything for it on uke, and trust me, I have my ear to the ground for anything classical on uke. :D

That's why I was suggesting it to Chief Noda. His transcriptions are pretty "guitaristic" and I really like that. But you can't just take a guitar arrangement and have it work right because of the uke's range. It takes some finesse and often a key change.

And Noda, if I could throw a couple more on my wish list... how about some Mertz? Fantaisie Hongroise and Elegie. :)

I think the chaconne might just ruin your life. What a beast of a piece!! I love listening to Heifetz play it.
