Lots of name went into the hat and one came out... it's "3nails4holes"

Congratulations and thanks to everyone.

Hey now,

I won this Mele 6-string uke from deach on his contest (Previous contest thread (http://www.ukuleleunderground.com/forum/showthread.php?21457-6-string-uke-contest!)). I've enjoyed playing it for a year and have decided it is now time to pass it on to someone else.

The uke (it's the 6-string on the left) comes with a nice case as well:
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y132/scitree/watches/1259617776.jpg

Rules:
-post a response here stating that you'd like to be included
-will draw a name out of a hat on Sunday, December 5 at 8 pm Pacific
-I'll ship to anyone in the US. If outside, please be willing to split the shipping fee with me.
-Winner agrees to not sell the uke, but that he/she will give it away to another UU member when it's time to pass it on

This sounds like an awesome idea!
I think that passing it around the country/world would make this instrument extremely special and unique. I think that there should be a certain way to track where it has been. For example what if every year that it is passed on the winner is to either sign their name/location or something. Then in __ many years we could see just how much traveling this little uke has done. The one thing that is stumping me is what could we use to sign it? We could due a permanent marker but I don't think that would look to great.

I'm just throwing ideas out there, cause I like the overall idea of passing it around each year. Count me in!

I like this idea too. Maybe you could put a paper label inside for people to sign, or maybe the case could get a series of stickers or buttons or something. I think markers wear off too easily. When the Sisterhood of the Traveling Ukulele was here, I could see that the earlier signatures were starting to fade quite a bit. So, I didn't really play it much when I had it, for fear of adding more wear to the record.

Please include me in the drawing! Thank you!

I like this idea too. Maybe you could put a paper label inside for people to sign, or maybe the case could get a series of stickers or buttons or something.

I think it would be cool if each person who got to have the ukulele for a while bought a sticker from their city or maybe the nearest city (for example, a little "Greetings from San Francisco" sticker with a little picture of a cable car or the Golden Gate Bridge on it) to put on the case before sending it off to the next location. The case could end up looking like luggage in old movies.

If I'm not too late I'd love a chance to win that awesome six string.

It's an awesome oppertuniti to teach my dad to play the uke (the makala soprano I have is way to small for his shovel hands) that way I can teach ukulele to him on my tenor and use the 6 string to show the chord shapes.

contact Mim. He lives in her area and helps organize their uke jams.

HAHAHA! That is hilarious that Rob won! He is my jam co-creator... I provide the place, he does most the work, hehe! I see him at least once a month! NICE guy! Man, if I knew it would be here by Thursday when he is stopping by, I would say send it to me and shock him! Haha! Because he will be stopping by soon because he has organized our jam group to go to a Children's Hospital to play Christmas songs to the kids. Unfortunately I can't go... because I have to work, and we have no $ for an employee in the winter. But the whole group is pulling $ together and I am hooking them up with 2 at-cost ukuleles to give to some kids who seem interested!

So if you wonder if it is going to a good person... THERE YA GO! He is the BEST! Nice guy, genuine guy, giving guy! And probably BUSY guy... so I will e-mail him right now and make him aware of this THREAD!

Woo-hoo! So excited for my friend!

wow! so this is what it feels like to finally win a contest on here!!! this is amazing!

thank you very much PaulGeo for hosting this contest. i really love the idea of enjoying a great uke and then passing it along. it makes me think of stewards of stradivari violins or cellos who feel the responsibility to use the instrument to the best of their abilities and they are simply part of a long line of those who have enjoyed their instrument.

i will continue this trend with this uke!

thanks again to PaulGeo for your generosity & thank you God for yet another blessing!
