Hi all,

I've been so busy with various things that I've sadly put uke on the back burner for the past few weeks. I want to get back into playing my tenor uke more. It's currently strung with Worth CT strings that I tuned down to Bb. I love the lower tuning, but if I go any lower than that the strings become too floppy. If I were to get the higher tension Worth strings (CH), would the tighter tension allow me to tune the uke even lower if I want? I'm not a fan of hard tension in strings, I'm just looking to get that nice Worth sound and tune down to something like G if possible.

(I don't want to get the Aquila tenor DGBE strings because I'm not a fan of wound strings anymore). Thanks for your help!

Hello Natalie,

Worth CH is very close in diameter to our Heavy Gauge Ukulele sets. You can see the recommended tensions here:

For your scale, we recommend key of A (1/2 step lower than B flat). See the "Tunings" page:

Worths should also work for this. B flat and A are both excellent choices for a Tenor. Although ours has a long scale, we have a sound sample here (page bottom):

Aloha Natalie,
I am a fan of drop tuning as it let the strings resonates more...Try this tuning....
F#-30, B-20/-30, D#-40, G#-30/-40 Let me know how it works out for you..got alot of
other tunings as well....Have Fun and Enjoy!! "Happy Strummings" Glad to hear you're back!!
MM Stan..

Thank you both for your responses! southcoastukes, I really enjoyed listening to the sound samples you linked. At this point my uke is at "re-entrant Bb" like your first sample. I think I want to go down further to A, like your other sound sample. I will look into your strings now.

mmstan, thanks for the tuning suggestion. It's good to be back :D Life has been a little crazy lately but I'm looking forward to the holidays and a chance to get a breather and reaquaint myself with my ukes.
