hi all

as we approach 2011, I thought it may be interesting to look back over the year in uke music.

What were your favorite / most listened to uke records of 2010?

Not necessarily released this year - maybe they're oldies but goodies - but what floated your boat this year in ukulele recordings? :)

Abe Lagrimas Jr Ukulele Vibes, Jake's Live, and Brittni Paiva's Four Strings, which is highly recommended as a holiday gift!

Brilliant- I've known Christopher since he was about 13...haven't seen him in a regrettably long time, looks like his talent on guitar extends to Ukulele, and that makes me happy.
Tell him old Mr. L is well impressed would ya?

hey TCK,
I'll be sure to tell him.........small world.

1. Will Grove White and The Others - self titled
2. Lil' Rev - Drop Baby Drop
3. Janet Klein and Her Parlor Boys - Whoopee! Hey! Hey!
4. The Old Spice Boys - Welcome To The Spice Age
5. Ukulele Jim - Down Home Marital Aid / Jumpin Flea Circus (just got mine a couple of days ago...so sweet and smooth)
6. Dick and Christa Hughes - 21st Century Blues
7. various - Square Pegs and Round Holes
8. Cliff Edwards - Singin In The Rain
9. Rose Turtle Ertler - Ladybirds of Crick Creek
10. Ukulele Club de Paris - Manuia!

bumpity bump...

any other takers out there...what have y'all been listening to this year???

in no particular order:

Brittni Paiva - Four Strings: The Fire Within

Sophie Madeleine - Love, Life, Ukulele

Victoria Vox - Exact Change

Troy Fernandez - Hawaiian Style Ukulele 2

An Ukulele Christmas - Various Artists

that's a few... :)

Totally agree Seeso. Jim is a sweet, smooth player with a warm, folky twang in his voice, and he sure knows how to write lovely, mellow folk tunes (and nice arrangements too!). Great choice.

:agree: listened to it a lot these past few weeks!

One album that gets overlooked a lot is "Ukulele Jim's Authentic Down Home Marital Aid." It's a fantastic record.

You have to mention Victoria Vox's "Exact Change."

Also Manitoba Hal's "Little Box of Sadness."

And "Two Bedroom Apartment" from Danielle Ate the Sandwich is damn fine, too.

Anything by Brother Sonny (Todd Baio) is awesome as well.

+1 on the "Two Bedroom Apartment" I would do so with the others, but have not heard them, but will give them a listen on your word. Mike
