This is something very strange, sometimes it shows up when I put a new set of strings on, then after a while it disappears, then sometimes I put a new set of strings on, with no issue, but the next time I put new strings on it does it again, and then after a while it disappears.

It wouldn't bother me except for the fact that it takes quite a while for the sound to disappear, I don't know if its maybe something like a grain of sand that just wedges itself eventually or what, but it's starting to irritate me.

It isn't the screws for the tuner, it sounds internal. And only happens occasionally when I play low notes loudly but it is not coming from the C string or from the nut. I think the tuner is the G tuner, but I'm not positive.

Any help is appreciated

Replacing the tuners might be the easiest option and I don't think that new tuners are terribly expensive. I'm assuming these are sealed tuners, and Mainland has some that might work. Mainlands do have pretty small buttons so if you want larger buttons you might have to look around a bit but the Mainlands are only $22 for a set of 4 http://shop.mainlandukuleles.com/product.sc?productId=17&categoryId=5. There are open geared tuners on eBay for $17 http://cgi.ebay.com/GROVER-STA-TITE...Accessories&hash=item588b151eee#ht_3988wt_905,

Yes sorry they are sealed, I've always liked open tuners, But I don't like the idea of having old holes in my headstock then, I mean, if I did it, after a day or so it wouldn't bother me at all, but you know..

This is for the Ohana right? There should be a way to get replacement tuners (duplicates) so you could just replace the one tuner and use the same screw hole as before. Maybe you can call or email Ohana? They are in Long Beach so maybe they can sell you a tuner (or a set of 4). http://www.ohana-music.com/contact.html

Oh cool, good idea. And I never knew they were in long beach!

Aloha Dane,
My guess would be a defective tuner...probally one of the gears or their braces, and when there is tension on them it stablizes them into a position and stops the rattling...since they are sealed, change them.. Good Luck!! Let us know how it goes.

Yeah, I really think its something inside the tuner that isn't supposed to be there. Because it's not repetitive, I may play for 2 months with a set of strings before it disappears. I might get new tuners, and just change the color of one, sounds like something I would do.
