It just occurred to me that when we talk about UAS we really are misnaming the condition...to our discredit. Ukulele Aquisition Syndrome makes it sound as if there were something wrong with us, personally, rather than our circumstances.

So, I believe that to be politically correct, and in synch with the present trend where even the implication that one might be held responsible for ones behavior is heavily frowned upon, we should immediately replace all instances of UAS with UDD.

Ukulele Deficiency Disorder more accurately places blame upon the circumstances, that is, the simple fact that we do not yet have enough ukuleles. Each purchase of another ukulele becomes not "succumbing to our syndrome" - but a positive affirmation of our heroic determination to overcome a disorder from which we suffer through no fault of our own.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it...

You just put into words what I've always felt! I am trying to HEAL myself! That's it!!!!

Haha! Oh geez, that one took me a bit...

I actually do think there is something to the healing aspect as ukes are so healing. I think I have a combination of the collector's mentality and the search for healing as well as the "right" uke going on, as I'm finally looking at the herd to figure out "who" to sell or swap out, and which are the keepers. It doesn't matter how awesome or collectible they are, if they aren't getting played I am going to thin, because I am finally feeling satiated. Why?

Because now I have guitar acquisition syndrome.

Which I guess would more correctly now be GDD, which sounds like part of a tuning.

And sort of not really, as actually the GAS ahem is really my hubby's thing.

I Like It!!

This is brilliant, and just the impetus I needed to pull the trigger on some bamboo around here

Does Obama-care cover that? If not I may just have to use the ER as my family doctor because I can't afford to be sick like that.

Oh, lawdy, lawdy. Yous is in trouble, now! 'Bout three times more expensive than UDD. The good news is that there are less varieties to have "one of each" (unless you count tenor and bass guitars, of course). I managed to cure my GAS with a Taylor steel-string, a very good but not especially expensive classic, and a custom built SG electric with a chambered body and maple cap (kind of a cross between an SG and a Les Paul) and a heavily reworked Epi Casino hollow body. I've got several other guitars, but those are the only ones I've played recently and I don't have any desire to add to that stable. Oh, did forget to mention a couple of basses...

Actually, sounds like a mountain dulcimer tuning (yeah, have a couple of those around to).

And sort of not really, as actually the GAS ahem is really my hubby's thing.

BWAA-HAA - I've a feeling my wife would say something to that affect as well.
