I used to have an Oscar Schmidt Uke, but a while ago had to sell alot of my Ukes and guitars (thanks economy), but am finally able to get back some gear that I had to get rid of (thanks house re-finance!) LOL.

I am looking at the Lanikai Solid Spruce Tenor, I could get a way with a Concert though, but I think I might like the Tenor better, don't know yet. Any good reviews on these Lanikai's? My local Sam Ash has these at the same prices from the internet, and they are definitely gorgeous. Comes with Aquila strings and 8 setups for $15 extra.

The books I'm looking at are the Just for Fun books, they seem pretty cool, and while they say "easy ukulele tab" they don't really look all that "easy" comparing east tab guitar to these for instance.

I do come from a fingerstyle guitar background and these seemed to be arranged for either strum and sing or solo uke.

Thanks for any help!!

Books by John King will give you more fingerpicking style. There are several others by the same publisher in different musical styles. http://www.amazon.com/Mel-Famous-So...=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1293434629&sr=8-4
You want books that have tablature, not just chord charts and melody lines. Of course, if you just want to play finger patterns with chords, there is nothing to stop you there. But if you are looking for instrumental arrangements there are many online sources.

These are good beginners pieces, classical and folk

Thanks for those references Lori, they're great!

If you like Hawaiian music search on "ken eidson" "ross cherednik". Also Daniel Ho has recently released an amazing CD; "Polani" and book, which has TAB formats.

I just listened to the sample of Daniel's album on his website. Sounds beautiful! Very contemplative. I ordered the CD and the music/playbook. Thanks for the referral!
