Repairs

Hello UU,

In my last post I shared that I pickup a 1928 Gibson #3 and was looking for the best repair luthier in the states.

Is Jake at the theWildwoodflower come highly recommended?

Any personal experience?

When I contacted him, he was only taking walk in customers and no mail in work.

Jake does great work and I love browsing his website.

I understand wanting to take that Gibson to the best, however, the issues it has are pretty minor and should be able to be handled by any competent luthier. As was suggested in your previous thread, I would make sure it is repaired by someone who likes uke's. I would go by that shop where you live. Take your uke and ask them about the repairs. See what they say and how you feel about the shop. If you don't think they are good, than walk out!

I just looked on Google for a second and found this place. I think they look good from their website but you would have to check it out.

I like to deal with local people if at all possible. I like that they have their prices listed and seem like an established shop. One thing to think about is if you send it somewhere for repair you risk damage in shipping. Not just from being handled roughly but also from drastic temp changes. Good luck, keep us updated on what works out.

I can personally attest to the quality of repairs provided by Hoffman Guitars. They are well known in the Twin Cities for exceptional yet reasonable repair. What part of the world are you in elixer?

I live in Chanhassen area, but in Florida for this week. Thanks for the update! I will try that place
