Has anyone used or made a pantograph for their dremel to aid in inlay work. My idea was to make a 4x or so pantograph for my dremel. Then after cutting out my inlay taking it to the scanner and enlarge the image of the inlay 4x, printing that out and then use the pantograph with the dremel to route out for the inlay. It seems like it should work. Maybe even go 5x or 6x, which ever gives a very accurate cut with ease freehand use over the enlarged image.

Yes, I made one but I only used it once. It worked fine but I ended up finding someone to do it using a laser so I don't use it anymore. Its easy to break a bit. I hate doing inlay work which is why I outsource it.

Looks like it worked for him pretty well. I think you would need two patterns for this....one to cut the inlay and one to route out the wood to fit. Seems like that would take a lot of fussing and finniting to get the two patterns just right. Ok for the production folks but maybe too much effort for just one or two ukes?? It would be cool to get it to work though
 
I made my pantograph today but only did a little testing. It seemed to work very well. Here is a link with a pretty clear set of plans. I didn't follow those plans but they seem good. I made mine quite a bit larger with more reduction in scale for the actual cut compared to the enlarged design. Now all I have to do is figure out exactly how much reduction I have going. The whole idea of the pantograph is to reduce the error of hand routing in inlay.
