I got a ukulele for Christmas from my grandparents (who live 2.5 hours from me) - I don't know what type it is, but it has clearish strings on it. I can tune them exactly in tune (I have an electric tuner), but pressing anything will make it 20-50 cents sharp. It's worse near the nut, gets almost in tune around 7th fret, and gets bad again near the bottom. Is there any way I can fix it?

I'm going to a music store tomorrow which may or may not have a ukulele expert, (I was going to bring it in and see if they could fix it) but I don't want to spend a whole lot of money on it.

omega2alpha, welcome to UU. It's a fun place.
If the music store has a stringed instrument tech, he should be able to set it up for you. What you are describing sounds to me like a high nut. The saddle might need some adjustment, also.
Good luck and let us know what was done.
