They say the saddest day of the year is January 19, but don't fret because it's only 67 days to the Southeastern Ukulele Festival on March 19 at Awendaw Green right out side of Mt. Pleasant in the beautiful low country. Please mark your calendar as the Charleston Hot Shots (http://www.charlestonhotshots.com) teams with Awendaw Green (http://www.awendawgreen.com) to host the best festival yet. All proceeds will go to the local public school's music programs. We only have one problem, we don't have a name. We've had the Cukeout and Uketoberfest....help us name the festival

Stay tuned for more details as things develop!

It's very near Charleston, SC, about 15 miles north on Hwy 17 from the center of Chars, just north of Mt. Pleasant. The Venue is actually off of Hwy 17 so it's super easy to get to. We are in the process of getting together vendors, a 2 hour concert and an open mic session (a big fav). Since the economy has improved we are trying to get some of the vendors, and manufacturers to donate items as prizes for open mic. We just got started orgnizing today and will have more details coming out in the next two week. All proceeds go to the local school's music program, which as taken some very heavy cuts over ther last two years.

You get to talk to other uke players, hear other uke players, play and see other ukes. Last Fest Mim from Mims ukes brought about 50 ukes and most were different models and let us try them out. It was great, as usual all the uke players were great fun to be around. It's a ukearific day.

I had an idea along the third one but not sure.
\The first namne that came to me was March of the Uke. But alas that is very similar to Ukes on the March.

"Ukes of March" as a take off on the "Ides of March" - instead of Ukes ON the March.

I'm not very good at clever names, and this one wouldn't work, but I've come up with it so I can't resist replying. If it was in the upper-state, you could call it Tickle Me Irmo.
