Wondering about custom painting a Uke

Is painting a Uke a good idea and does it effect the sound?

I am a painter and am wondering if I could custom my Uke by painting it. I have done so with some of my guitars, the cheaper ones, and have noticed no effect in sound. I would go as far as custom painting my Gibson songbird, however the Uke being a "fun" instrument I was wondering if anyone has experience with this.

If it effects the sound, it will be so insignificant your ears wont even notice the change. Unless ya paint it with tar. Normal paints will be fine.. Paint away, and make it yours.. Have fun.. and as always, PICTURES..
