I am a new player and just bought 2 sets of strings from musician's friend.
I think I may have ordered wrong or they sent me the wrong strings.

When I open the stings they sent me, there are 4 D'Addario envelopes labeled as follows:
envelope 1. E - 1st .028"
envelope 2. E - 1st .028"
envelope 3. B - 2nd .032"
envelope 4. G - 3rd .040"

I think it may have been a combination of I ordered the wrong strings and they send a wrong mix of strings.

My uku is a tenor and is GCEA tuning.
Is that called regular C tuning?

Should the envelopes be labeled GCEA ?

Is there a good website to order a set of strings?

Thanks for any help

I'm not sure what you bought - hopefully someone else can speak to that. Here's what I can tell you:

Your uke is C tuning, the only variable would be low or high G (high is more standard, but a lot of people prefer low, especially tenor players).

I've never seen strings labeled any other way than 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, but then I normally stick with Aquilas; other manufacturers may vary.

I buy all of my strings on eBay, either from MGM or from theukeking.

I have a set of tenor strings and they are labeled......In the order of gcea:
.028, .041, .032, .028

The strings I have are Kamaka Tenor strings. I hope this helps you!

You have the J71 set I presume. If so:

J4401 E-1st = G string
J4603 G-3rd = C string
J4602 B-2nd = E string
J4601 E-1st = A String

If you bought from the UU store they include an insert with this information.

In your case, the E strings of 0.28 diameter would be used as the 1st and 4th string on the uke.
