I had a few tiny bubbles in my lacquer finish on my latest build at the neck/body joint and where the fretboard is glued to the top. I was able to scrape them out and fill in a little bit with some brushed on lacquer. Anyone experienced this? It seems to happen where the lacquer gets thick at inside corners....

If you are seeing this where it gets "thick" then it's caused from solvents being trapped inside the finish. In the trade it's called "Solvent Boil".

The solvents are gassing off but being trapped by a somewhat impervious outer skin that has formed on the lacquer due to faster drying than will allow the solvents inside to evaporate. A condition that is very bad for producing a quality finish.

Solution is to use slower solvents. Much thinner coats allowing appropriate time for solvents to gas off. Better spraying technique.
