Meranti is one of the lowest price hardwoods readily available to me in the UK. It is plain-looking, porous, fibrous and quite soft.

But it makes great-sounding ukes! I've just finished this soprano in all meranti for the neck & body with a rosewood FB and an offcut of mahogany for a head veneer..

Looks / sounds great.

Hi! Rob,
I agree with everyone. This uke sounds great and look fantastic.
Even though it is made of the cheapest wood, but that is one of the prettiest uke I have seen.

This ukulele is so simple, it's pretty! It also sounds just what a soprano should - loud, clean and bright!

Thanks folks - I just need to start finding customers for these things now...
...that seems to be the really challenging part.

I'm impressed. Love the simplicity, look and sound. I believe there would be interest from some UU members. Depending on cost of uke and shipping to US, I would be proud to own one even though I need another ukulele like I need another hole in my head. Just let us know that you've posted in the Marketplace forum here. You can also post on FMM.

Great looking uke, Fine workmanship, sounds great, congrats. thanks for sharing.

Thanks. I'm working on another one of these for a UK customer at the moment.
