Making time for the little things..

Hi everyone :D

After reading someone's post here about how they'd been so busy but then they'd found time to hug their wife and play their uke and cuddle their son, I realised that I haven't been making time for the little things in life. Things here have been crazy, first my friend had a baby, then two weeks later he was rushed to ICU and to a town two hours away so he could get specialist care on a PICU, he finally came off the vent on my birthday (Jan 6th) and then came back to Swindon a few days later and stayed at our hospital for a week or so, he finally came home for good and then got sick again, that was a rollercoaster thinking we were going to lose him, then Miss D got chickenpox, and then an ear infection so has been off school and I've had to go back to uni with her at home which is not ideal, but that's the way it goes, then I have an essay due and my Ukes just haven't been played.

So today, I'm made time for the little things, I tuned all four and stummed all four, concentrating on playing Hoa properly for the first time in a while and you know what, I feel less stressed, feel more at ease and feel blessed to have made it through this rough time and come out the other side.

Just thought I would share :D

Life does get busy before we know it. I have recently adopted a very old cleche that never meant allot to me, but now it does. "Slow down. Take time to smell the roses". Life is a journey, slow down to see, feel, touch, hear the sights..

Welcome back and keep us up on what's going on with ya..
 
Joey.. So glad that you are on the 'otherside' of some really rough times! I have had some busy crazy times myself. I think we all have in a sense. So happy to have you back and taking the time to make some music! Yeah! Can't wait for your next video when you have the time...

Today new strings arrived for my Luna... so tonight the mayhem begins, the uke that will not sstay in tune.. I am going to work with it. Like you school keeps me busy, I will finish up another class on Monday... then I have to keep going on the next... I am finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel..

Thanks for sharing and catching us up. You have definitely been missed! Did you finish up the cross stitch yet?

I did finish it a few days ago, it's been washed, is drying and will be measured up and framed soon in time for Mother's Day in March (The UK (maybe even Europe) has a different mother's day to the rest of the world!) Just had a hectic day myself and was so glad to have found the time to, as Tudorp said, "stop and smell the roses" or play the Ukes..

Welcome back! It's nice to see your posts again, and I hope things will calm down for you now.
 
"The best laid plans of mice and men can often go wrong". I had some hetic times with exams recently as well. Welcome back and we all need to remember to slow down.
 
That other cliche -- "life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans" -- is attributed to John Lennon (it appears in his 1980 song "Beautiful Boy"), but I suspect the line itself, if not the sentiment, has been around a lot longer. I'm glad to hear you took sime time for the important little things in your own life, and that your friend's baby seems to be back in good health. Thanks for posting. It's always nice hearing from you.

glad to see you back on the forums and that you have made time for the simple things. I know in my own life playing my ukes is the most effective and long lasting stress reliever. Hope that all these compounding health issues are past with your friends and family mate. We've missed you and look forward to more regular UU visits buddy. :)
