Hey,

I'm buying a mando soon, and would like to get a tutor book with it. But when I learned bass, for example, I found the book so boring and patronising, because I already knew about music. I didn't WANT to know what a crotchet is, I already knew.

I don't want the same thing to happen again... I want a book that teaches me technique, and chords, not how to read tabs or staves.

Does anyone know what I should go for?

(p.s. sorry if I sound a bit grumpy, didn't mean to moan!)

The world's best mandolin book is "Bluegrass Mandolin" by Jack Tottle-Oak Publications. When I bought it, a small flimsy record came with it, Must likely there is an included DVD these days.

Another mando book I like is
"Mandolin Player" by Jethro Burns and Ken Eidson

thanks, ive looked these up on amazon, and they look brilliant! The first one had brilliant reviews, but the second one is out of stock at the moment, at least in the UK. :-(

thanks anyway...:) ill probably go for the first one!
