I keep realising chords relate to each other. Like G7 and E7 are the same except the first finger! I guess everyone else knows this stuff but it makes me happy!

Yeah, thats a true learning moment. And easier still is Jim Beloff's "pinky finger tip" from the NAMM interview Aldrine did on Flea Market Music. Compose your G with your pinkie finger on the "E" 3rd fret - then "moving" to a G7 is just swapping the first finger to the 1st fret & as you noticed, an E7 is just that same first finger to the G 1st fret. If my pinkie will just cooperate!

My pinky has other things to do, I'm not sure what, but it has other ideas. :)

Yeah, the G is the third of the E chord, and the E is the 6th of the G, so they're related.

Try this:
G - 0232. Now add your pinky on the C string 4th fret. Em - 0432.
Lots of songs have this G to Em transition.

Aloha Misty,
Just shift your index finger from the E string to the G string while keeping your middle and ring fingers on the the C and A Strings fretted....Happy Strummings...Good Catch On Girl!! MM Stan..
