What is an open chord? Also, this sounds extremely stupid but I'm having some issues, so... in a 'chord chart', the black dots are where you place your fingers, correct? Sorry, but I can't seem to get any of the chords to work to my tuning. Thank you.

First, welcome to the forum.

Second, chill on the multiple postings. This is the third thread you started about your chord problems.

Third, an open chord is when a string or strings in a chord are not pressed down when played - like an open C chord which is fingered 0003. Yes, the black dots are where you press down.
