If you knew that you could have any uke for free, what would your next uke be?

Standard or custom? Standard, I would probably go with a top of the line Kanile'a concert. Custom, Kamaka HF-2 with custom fretboard inlay and a slotted headstock. I'm a simple man ^.^

Any uke for free? Well, it would have to be a '20s Martin 5K. If we're talking ANY uke for FREE....

Kamaka pineapple! If it was free, I'd probably go for the long-neck.

A concert uke in a blond tonewood, like myrtle or mango can possibly be, with maple binding and maple binding on the neck. I would love love love a slotted headstock or a tele style headstock, neither of which anyone seems to offer in concert size. Pickup: yes please.

A Koaloha concert, because I started uke with a Koaloha soprano, and it just kinda brings it full circle for me as I try to bring my UAS to a somewhat permanent close.

And if my parents go to Hawaii, a Kamaka tenor perhaps, but it's the two concerts really that I'm all about now.

Well of course the 5K so I could sell it and buy 3 or 4 nice ukes.

I would something like this (http://cgi.ebay.com/BRAZILIAN-ROSEWOOD-COMPASS-ROSE-SPRUCETOP-UKULELE-case-/370487916615?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5642ccf847) or would really like this (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Sd1l4R8hW10/TQXDsf8yZAI/AAAAAAAAATo/Mptsi1bRg7w/s1600/IMG_6256_2.2.JPG) and will be saving up and hoping for something like it.

Good question....

Can I play them all first, and then decide?

It;s too bad R&L Ukuleles site isn't up. There were some really unique eye candy . . . this one is from Ukulele Me Crazy (http://puapua-ukulolo.blogspot.com/2009/06/rl-pineapple-soprano-custom.html).

Definitely the most expensive classic Martin (or maybe Mike's jewel encrusted baritone) I could find, which I would then sell and buy a whole bunch of cheaper ukes I could play out and use the rest of the money for other stuff.

Is there really such a thing as a dream uke? Does it really matter. What happens when you actually get that dream uke? You will always want something bigger and better.
The R&L Natural Soundhole ukulele (or Coochulele as it is known to some), is an amazing instrument. I love that uke.

But my Moore Bettah is my baby.
http://i926.photobucket.com/albums/ad106/Henriness/e972236a.jpg
So my dream ukes are the ones that I am already playing. Do I have a desire for more? Kinda. Those ukes used to be my dream ukes. Now that I have them, I kind of want more. Maybe a KoAloha. Maybe a fluke. I am looking for a good uke that can be my everyday uke.

Solidbody electric steel string tenor, whammy bar, dual humbuckers.
Flat black colour. Gold tuners and pickup covers. Abalone inlays for fretboard markers. Custom headstock inlay with my initials TAM. Letters laid one on top of the other.

Now THAT'S an answer that shows some "dreamin' about it" time has gone down!

That? Is hilarious!!!

I saw a couple of those while uke shopping in Hawaii and I couldn't keep my mind outta the gutter.

A few months ago, someone was offering one of these Kamakas on fleamarket music, as I recall, for $3,500.00. I don't believe it was purchased. It certainly is extraordinary.

I would go for the 5K myself, although the pineapple wouldn't be far behind.

A Moorbettah...not sure which one, practically any one. I like the one with the flamingos around the sound hole. Heard the MP3, they sound as good as they look.

The Moore Bettahs are custom ukes and the flamingo was somebody elses dream. You will have to come up with your own. Rest assured, if you can dream it-Chuck can build it.
