This is gonna sound real "newb-ish" but i need help so here it goes:

C G7
Happy birthday to you,

(G7) C
Happy birthday to you......

HOW do i play this? Not only this song, but any song where the lyrics have the chords above them like this? I don't get it. When do I play each chord? How am I supposed to know what the strumming pattern is? How do I know when to change chords?

obviously I am a beginner in need of much guidance! :)

THANKS FOR THE HELP.

usually, the chords will be listed above the word that is sang in the song when you change chords. most are like this... however, some are different and will list the chods used in that phrase/line, but not indicate where it is played. in this case, if it's a song you know... use your ears! you know when the song changes key. it will just sound right to you.

good luck, man.

Hey, that's o.k. We were all beginners at one time.

You'll find that some of the lyrics of a song has the chords bunched up at the beginning. You have to spread it out. The first chord "C" is the key to the song. The "G7" should be played above the "You" at the end of the first line .

You continue that chord "(G7)" to the second line, then end with "C" at "You"

I hope this helps.

Oh, by the way, there's an "F chord" at the end of the third line.
