what's the general opinion of a gentle wiping down with a warm lightly dampened washcloth followed by a clean t-shirt drydown?

i imagine it depends on the type of wood. i've got a kala ka-st. it's so smooth and shiny that it seems safe enough. i just want to make sure it's not damaging at all, my uke is still fairly new so i've only done it twice. any better alternatives?

If it's really shiny, it probably has a good finish over the wood, so wiping it down with water on a soft cloth wont hurt it. I clean my guitars and ukes the same way.

I bring mine in with me when I take a shower. In other words, it gets cleaned once a week.

I use what is essentially an oil based wood or furniture polish. The oil keeps the wood from drying out too much.

im just saying, if the wood doesnt have a very good finish on it it could soak into the wood, but its probably fine, I should be getting my ka-st today and they do look pretty shiny:D
