I have heard of KoAloha's budget line but, what happened to them? I read somewhere that they made really good budget, solid wood ukes. But, What happened? I can't find to find anyone who is selling any KoAlanas

Supposedly they stopped production of them again because the quality control at the factory overseas wasn't up to their standards.

Hello Hungry,

I got a Koa concert made last year.

the good:
Sound is very nice, and is comfortable to play.

the bad:
The finish is mighty thick and doesn't
really adhere well to the wood, as it's a transparent
yellowish urethane, you can easily detect where it's separating from the wood.

Worksmanship is a bit on the lacking side and bracing is way too heavy.

Action and intonation not great but good enough.

Stock tuners also need replacing.

I suppose KoAloha, being top notch company felt it would be better
to halt production. Future of further Koalanas is in Limbo now,
KoAloha folks tell me if they can find a supplier to meet their specs they'll make em again.

Bottom line, I like mine

Cheers.
