Why is it a surprise or a mystery? If you commissioned a custom uke, surely you had some say in what it will be.

True, but sometimes it is better to let the artist express themselves, it something I do as a photorapher quite a bit.

x2 I've always done that with my commissioned guitars. I request the wood combinations, but let the artist do their job from there.

X3...... If there are no changes then you're just building by the numbers. An ukulele will assume a life of it's own as it grows on the work bench. It's the builder's job to listen when the instrument speaks.

Just received my latest update images, Chuck has finished the headstock and neck, they have not been sprayed yet so the colors will be more vibrant after spraying. I am thrilled that Chuck was able to do an inlay of my beloved African Grey Parrot "Poe", Poe just celebrated his 12th birthday in January, I have had him in my life since he was a baby, he is an amazing parrot with an incredible vocabulary, he also loves music, sings or whistles to songs and even makes up his own tunes.

That's simply lovely. And, "Poe" looks great perched up at the top of the headstock. I owned a Gray for several years & still wish finances had allowed me to keep him. I'm sure he will enjoy singing along w/your uke as well as you do the the uke itself. Another Moore Bettah to lust after!

Got it yesterday. Amazing uke. Can't believe how relatively inexpensive it was...for the sound and playability it should cost much, much more. Add to that the fact that it's USA made, it's such an incredible bang for your buck.

Lots of ukes coming my way in a short amount of time. Got my KoAloha 2nd last Tuesday, got my Sailor yesterday and will receive my MB tomorrow!

Bob, I love your uke! The parrot inlay is exquisite!

How long was your wait? I'm on week six now and haven't heard anything. :(

I paid on 2/21 and it shipped on 4/29. Yours should probably be done in a couple of weeks. You can always ask Mike for an update...I bugged him a lot to get status updates (hopefully he wasn't getting sick of me). He has to check with the luthier so it would generally take about a day before he got back to me.

Plainsong
05-05-2011, 10:30 PM
Yeah I didn't want to be "that" person who bugs him all the time. But then again we all have a tendency to be that person when it's a new uke in the balance. I'll give it a while longer. It's not as if he's hiding my uke from me going "Muahahahaha!"

...or is he? ;)

I'm trying to wind up and end the UAS merrygoround. Check out the Kala Mighty Uke thread to see how successful I've been! ;) Ohana sk-38, Mya-moe order, eventual Koaloha concert and that's it. Done.

Your Mya-moe tenor is the one I'm partial to... If you take my hint....no wait I said I'd stop!

Ok, Sailor uke, Ohana sk-38, Mya-moe order, eventual Koaloha concert, and that's it. Well alright the Kala Mighty Uke, Ohana sk-38, Mya-moe order, eventual Koaloha concert, and I really am out of the game I promise this time!
