Saga Pony Short Scale 5-string Banjo in excellent condition.

Features an open back full size 11" remo head, brass tone ring, 4:1 geared planetary pegs, nicely finished - a very handsome banjo with a great old timey tone.

The scale length is that of a baritone uke, so a lot more portable than other banjo's. The short scale sounds best in C, but can also be tuned to G if you're using heavier strings. Can use standard steel strings or Aquila Nylgut Banjo strings.

This is an older banjo made in Korea, not China, so higher quality with better workmanship than the new ones.

Comes with a nicely padded Superior gigbag especaially made for this banjo. You can see both here:

Recently professionally setup by 5th String in Berkeley and strung with steel strings.

--- With gigbag: $275 paypal okay.

PM me or post here is need any more photos or have any questions.

Cool, short scale isntrument that you can string up like a banjo with steel or Aquila nylgut strings, or strung like a ukulele with an extra drone string using Lanikai or Aquila nylgut baritone banjo uke stings!

Hello Lo--condition of frets and fretboard, please?

Hi ukeunc,

The frets and fretboard are in excellent condition. There is very lettile fretwear and no fretbaord wear.
No corrosion on any of the hardwear or anything.
The palnetary pegs all work smoothly.
You can tell it's been played as there is some "shadowing on the remo head" - it come from your hand rubbing against the head when you're clawhammering. There is no damage or wear to the head whatever.

It was recently set up by 5th String in Berkeley (a famed bluegtrass dealer around here), so she's all set to go.
The banjo also includes its truss rod wrench and head wrench.
Also a shoulder strap.

That post is pretty old now, but if you've still got it, I'd be interested in buying that banjo!

Hey, that is a pretty good looking little banjo!

I've got a regular scale Saga--my first banjo--and I'm nuts about it. The Pony's my first choice, but I'll definitely keep that nice little Gold Tone on my radar! Got about a year before my travels.

Heck, it'd be kinda fun to be able to say I have a gold tone.
