I accidentally ordered low-G strings (Aquila Nylgut) for my soprano uke :uhoh: I'm a beginner and I feel it could be better to keep the regular tuning. So my question is:

can a low-G string be safely tuned to high-g?

Or should I take this as a sign and tune low-G from now on?

And i have two brand new sets :(

Please help, thank you...

just leave the high G, you being a beginner has nothing to do with using high g or low g, the chords are the same:D

No. You cannot tune a low-g string to high-g. You need to change the string to high G if thats what you want.

If she can't return the strings, can't she use the A string from one set and add it to the other set in place of the low G, and then tune it high G? Or sell those strings to someone on here, and get high G strings.

Thanks for your question Maya. I'm a beginner as well and have been confused by low G vs. high G strings.

NO! Tension will snap the string before it ever gets that high..

Play it, enjoy it, while your order for a single high-G string is being processed...

Don't do it. Keep that set for another possible future ukulele.
