Looks like Eddie's solo uke tour is a hit. Tried to buy tickets yesterday to the Portland or the two Seattle shows an hour after the tickets went on sale to the public and came up empty. Sold out and at some pretty big venues too!

sorry you could not score. it was absolute ticket mayhem. is he playing any large venues? i thought he'd only booked smaller auditoriums.

Yea, I'm already looking at the "secondary market" i.e. StubHub, but the prices are out of line.

The venue that he's playing in Portland is the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall which seats 2800. Pretty good sized room to fill for a uke performance even if it's Eddie behind it. Glen Hansard (of the Frames, Swell Season and the movie Once fame) is opening solo I hear. Should be a great show.

Just checked the entire west coast and it's sold out everywhere. Makes buying scalped, I mean secondary market tickets a little easier to swallow....

I was on ticket master the second it would let me look and there weren't 2 tickets available in Seattle. Kinda crazy? Within 1 minute....gone.

My husband hasn't said no yet. He even sounded somewhat interested. Minneapolis -- July 2nd. (I think)

this is not a uke tour. ed is promoting his new album, 'ukulele songs', a collection of tunes from around 2000. back then, he made an ep and gave it to some friends. it is now getting released with some other newer stuff, and sounds great. 'longing to belong', with the backing cello, is f***ng beautiful. i would encourage anyone who can make it, to go. he'll play uke for a few tunes, and some mando, guitar for most. here's the playlist for his last show in perth -

01. Long Road
02. Don't Be Shy-(Cat Stevens)
03. Brain Damage-(Waters){Pink Floyd}
04. Sometimes
05. Throw Your Arms Around Me-(Archer, Falconer, Howard, Mills, Seymour, Smith, Waters) {Hunters & Collectors}
06. Just Breathe
07. Millworker-(James Taylor)
08. Unthought Known
09. Betterman/Save It For Later-(Charley, Cox, Morton, Steele, Wakeling) {plays "save it for later" for 30 seconds in "Betterman" outro}
10. Can't Keep
11. Light Today-(new song)
12. Soon Forget
13. No Ceiling
14. Guaranteed
15. Rise
16. Needle and The Damage Done-(Neil Young)
17. Immortality
18. Lukin
19. Porch

Encore Break 1
20. Tonight You Belong To Me w/ EJ Barnes-(Rose/David)
21. You Can Close Your Eyes w/ EJ Barnes-(James Taylor)
22. The Golden State w/ EJ Barnes-(John Doe)
23. Society-(Jerry Hannan)
24. I Am A Patriot-(Steve Van Zandt)
25. Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town
26. Crazy Mary-(Victoria Williams)
27. Arc

Encore Break 2
28. Rockin' In The Free World w/ EJ Barnes & Cecilia Herbert-(Neil Young)
29. Hard Sun w/ EJ Barnes & Cecilia Herbert-(Gordon Peterson)
Ed brings crew out on stage and thanks them.

Oh man, just about pulled the trigger on 2 resale tickets twice this afternoon and then I think $360 will get me a long ways toward something else I need in my life... And now I read your post J and here I go again....So Eddie is playing with a backup band too? And playing that setlist! Yikes, what to do...

Well I did it...13th row Orchestra...I suppose the pain will subside in a couple of months and will be completely forgotten about come July. Looked up a couple of reviews on Eddie's Austrailian tour going on right now and the evening he put's on, yes solo, sounds amazing. Looking forward to Glen Hansard opening too. Thanks for the nudge there Jlester!

there is no backing band, far as i know. some of the pj stuff has been reworked to be done solo. i may have extra ticket for long beach if you are interested. you'd have to sit with my friend kevin, but he's good people, and a fellow uker as well. i'll keep you posted. congrats on scoring tix, btw. i know they were not an easy get. peace. jc

Thanks for the Long Beach offer jc, right neighborly. Working on Avett Brothers tickets now. I sure love summer planning!

Glen Hansard (of the Frames, Swell Season and the movie Once fame) is opening solo I hear. Should be a great show.

I'm not a big Eddie Vedder fan, but this show would be worth it just for Glen Hansard. That guy puts on a show, and his music is brilliant!

Unfortunately, the tour's not coming anywhere near Nashville. :-(

So, who is Eddie Vedder? Should I know the name? Other than seeing it in the forums, I have no idea who this person is, or if I should even care.

Would someone please enlighten me? (And remember, while I am not an "Olde Phart[tm]", I am an Old Fart.)

i don't know if you should care, but you asked. eddie vedder is the lead singer of pearl jam, who celebrate their 20th anniversary this year. all in all, pj is a little heavy for most folks on this board, but there have been spreckles of mellowness and ukulele throughout their catalog - "soon forget" comes to mind -

the soundtrack of "into the Wild' is primarily his, and is brilliant, though no uke.
ed's got his own tour, a sit-down acoustic show, in smallish venues (at least not giant arenas) first in australia, and the usa this summer. he's also releasing an album called 'ukulele songs' this may. there's another thread with this in it somewhere -

hope you dig it. jc

Thanks. I have heard of Pearl Jam, but would be hard pressed to put a name to song or even think of anything they have done. I'll see if there is anything on youTube.

Check these out and I'm old - let's just say I've seen Jimi....My teen kids brought Pearl Jam into our house in the early 90's along with Nirvana and Soundgarden, introducing us to Seattle Grunge. Took a while to warm to it but to me now these guys were transformational in the rock 'n roll lineage as say The Sex Pistols and the Ramones were ten years earlier...Never did warm to those two bands though - appreciate yes - like no.

Here's PJ's early heavy side (feel free to skip) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYc72UFX02U and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9UO7Yl5tVs

But then there is....
A classics redux - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfD_Y10yZTY
And this wonderful song - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0mhrqfeFjQ

And JJ - Glen is amazing but I admit I'll miss Marketa after seeing their tour last summer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPbC2YrUUsI

Thank you all for indulging a couple of Pearl Jam fans.
