So I was inspired by a thread by mendel about what you are playing right now. So I was curious as to what are people's song list. You know songs that they play all the time, I'm looking to learn a new song right now, and am kind of stuck. Keep in mind I'm a strummer/singer, not good at finger picking (yet!) Here's my list:

No woman no cry - Bob Marley
Grave digger - Dave Matthews
Hawaiian Supa Man - Braddah IZ
Sitting Waiting Wishing - Jack Johnson
Betterman - Pearl Jam
Use Somebody - Kings of Leon
Soul to Squeeze - Red Hot Chili peppers
Santeria - Sublime
Polly - Nirvana
Blister in the sun - Violent Femmes
La Bamba - Ritchie Valens
Bad Touch - Bloodhound gang
Rainbow Connection - Kermit the frog
If I was President - Wyclef Jean
Island in the sun - Weezer (learned from Aldrien on UU!!)
Big empty - stone temple pilots
Por ti Volare - Andrea Bocceli

What are your guys favorites? Any suggestions on something fun to play and sing??

go to tabs and chords, and there is a sweet tab for 'nothingman'.
'we are going to be friends' by white stripes. easy - nice for you if you can sing.
'can't keep' is speedy for the fingers, but once you get it you got it. check uke hunt.
'big me', 'best of you', 'times like these' - all good easy foos.
my voice is worse than my ukin', so i mostly just tab out vocals, but have been trying to strum some elvis ('cant help falling in love', etc) and sing as elvis. i know it sucks, but the wife thinks it's funny.
peace. jc

The songs that I can either play off page or am close to getting off page are:

"I'm Yours" - Jason Mraz
"Brown Eyed Girl" - Van Morrison
"Somewhere Over the Rainbow" - the Glee version that someone posted here (thanks, BTW :))
"Every Day is Like Sunday" - Morrissey
"You Are the Everything" - REM
"Leaving on a Jet Plane" - Peter, Paul, and Mary
"Walk Like an Egyptian" - The Bangles
"Here Comes Your Man" - The Pixies
"Baby, One More Time" - Britney Spears (I used to be embarrassed to like this song, but then cool bands like Travis and Fountains of Wayne started covering it, and I felt vindicated ;) - plus, it's really fun to play)
"The Man Who Sold the World" - David Bowie (I am still only up to about half speed on the finger picking, but I have the strumming down)
"No Surprises" - Radiohead

I'm just a stummer too. Terry - the other half of the Ukes of hazard - is the finger poickin' soloist guy of the group.
We've got a about 50 songs in our repetoire now (we just worked out the other day that we started mucking around as a duo about three years ago so bear in mind that we've practiced every Thursday night since) but there are some songs we always play live and always enjoy

Two good English pop songs to have a crack at are:

Easy 3 chords - In the Summer Time – Mungo Jerry. Lazing on a Sunny Afternoon – Kinks - more like an old 20's song in it's chord structure.
And likewise - Opehelia by The Band has a lovely chord progression and a couple of cool changes in rhythm & is also a bit of challenge to sing..

House of the Rising Sun
What a Wonderful Word
Greensleeves
White Sandy Beach
No Woman No Cry
Jammin'
Good Riddance
generic pretend blues riff
Paint it Black
Hotel California
Losing My Religion
Love Song (not the UU version)
Just Like Heaven
Kirtland Murder Barn
Paul Tibbets
Even Stephen
Hurt
Tomorrow Wendy
Europa
Nowhere Man
Bungalow Bill
St. Johns Infirmary
Creep

And for you Big Bang Theory fans...

Soft Kitty - but only when you're sick.

.... What I remember right now off the top of my head. Some of these are just chord and some of these are chord + some solo. The most difficult one I have going is Hotel California.

This is a good thread because I find I can play along with many songs in songbooks but don't really memorize them that well. The ones I am working on are:

Staten Island Slide
Incense and Peppermints
Lazing on a Sunny Afternoon
Blue Skies
Ain't she sweet and 5'2
Hot Tamales and They're Red Hot
No Rain (blind melon)
Friend of the devil (Grateful Dead)
Mexicali Blues (Grateful Dead)

lots of others but I know that what I need to do is get some down and memorize the words etc... perfect them as if trying to pass a test I guess....
