Very cool article! Love the story of the neighbor painting that first Pineapple.
 
Thanks for posting the article. Fred Kamaka told the pineapple story the day I took the Kamaka factory tour. He also said that the factory was going to have to move because it's in an area zoned for commercial uses but not industrial uses, and the production of sawdust makes the factory an industrial use.

Mahalo nui for sharing, enjoyed the read...wasn't that neighbor next to his old shop that painted the pineapple??? I heard for some time that they had to move, and dreaded it...just love their location..and

Ha, I was wondering about that. My HF-1 came from a private school in Hawaii that downsized, makes me wonder if I paid several times its worth :)
