Between these two

here is my two cents....the koa uke is a laminate top (koa plywood). the other has a solid cedar top. I have not played either of these, but I would probably go with the cedar...I do not know what the diference in the sound is? I would guess that you would get a little brighter/punchier sound out of the cedar top. I dont think you can go wrong with either of these though.

P.S. I love the adjectives used to describe uke sounds...punchier, brighter, crisper, mellower...and my favorite..."warmer"...what the hell does that mean? :D

I'D GO WITH THE SOLID CEDAR TOP

I recently bought the Cedar top for my 11yo son. I went with MGM's suggestion. He recommends the Cedar and I have to say I was very pleasantly supprised. It does have a nice sound and the cedar top projects really well. Also, I like to say that I am a Tenor uke guy and never considered a concert model till I played my sons one!
