hi ho hi ho it's off to evil bay we go...grab yourself a bargain  http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120714779252&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT

I have for sale a vintage Mauna Loa soprano ukulele. Build date is estimated at 1920's. Mauna Loa was the budget line of ukes built by Lyon & Healy.

Last week I started a thread in an attempt to find out more of the history of this uke. It was an interesting discussion. The link to it is here: http://www.ukuleleunderground.com/f...easure&highlight=vintage+uke:+trash+treasure?

I bought the uke, advertised as being in mint condition, from ebay last year and paid $225 for it without a case. I don't really consider it as being in mint nic as it's obviously been refinished. Even though, it is a lovely refinish job and the uke is very pretty.

here are some pictures:

One issue: the slot in the bridge for the 'A" string has worn away a little, so one needs to tie a thick knot to hold the string in place. Other thing would be to fill it a little but I'm not confident of doing that myself.

It has a lovely tone and a unique and striking burgundy plastic ring lining the soundhole which looks amazing. The uke really is in incredible condition given that it's age puts it closer to 'antique' than vintage.

Offers? :anyone:

I'll send it off to ebay tomorrow if still no interest. thanks all. :)

Good luck in selling this Jon. Maybe if you packaged it up with your Mya Moe tenor resonator I would be interested. LOL :)

thanks Dana. Honestly, I'm at the point where I just wanna get rid of it and don't particularly care what is paid. Just my cycle of obsessive / compulsive stuff...when I get fixated on buying a uke I have to have it yesterday, and the same when I feel like I need to sell one...it's like a burden on my back and I have no patience...just have to get rid of it. Truly, I'm entering a new phase and scaling down big time. Time to start thinking about others than myself. reality check. Just can't keep living like a king when you're a pauper... (oooh where's my therapist when I need him? )
