Take care, Michael. My thoughts are with you.

04-19-2011, 07:48 PM
I'll be thinking about you Mike. You have given and given and have shown so many of us what the Aloha spirit is all about. Hoping your health returns to you....

04-19-2011, 08:08 PM
Best wishes, Michael. Thanks for passing on your love of the uke to so many of your customers and most of all for the laughter you shared with us.

04-19-2011, 08:14 PM
Sorry that things are going so badly for you Mike. Hope you can pull through it all soon. We are on your side, and I hope to see you again at some Uke Fests– even if you don't have a booth! Time to regroup and concentrate on getting well. Best wishes.

 Closed for carpal tunnel?!
Obviously bad for playing... but for selling ukes too?

far more serious issues than that Paul, not my place to say though mate...

Thanks Ronnie for letting us know. Mike, you have been an inspirational and crucial cog in the wheel getting countless players started in an instrument we all love so dearly. Thankyou for the kala pocket uke too!!!

I pray that you are able to now better focus on your health issues and that this isn't an end but just the start of a new beginning. Blessings from me and my family.

I've never dealt with you, Mike. I don't know if we can say we "know" someone from this interweb machine but I've really enjoyed your presence here. Your sage advice, your sense of humour, your passion.

This is very sad and lamentable news. Please be heartened Mike, to know that you have many friends and admirers of your championing of the ukulele. I hope your health issues do not preclude you from an active involvement here on UU.

Blessings and hopes for a speedy recovery mate.

04-19-2011, 10:21 PM
I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery. You would have to be UU's number one greeter, you sure make everyone feel welcome.

04-19-2011, 11:07 PM
Sending prayers and wishing you all the best for a speedy recovery, MGM. I've never dealt with you personally, but I know you're a great guy. I just hope you get better soon!

04-19-2011, 11:07 PM
I don't want to over step bounds but I would suggest to anyone who's worried about recently purchased ukes, please be courteous and patient, Michael is working it out. His problems with eBay etc. has affected his ability to get records for shipping, etc. If you bought something send him all your info re: item #, date of sale, PayPal transaction ID and sale and shipping amounts (or forward your PayPal receipt and matching eBay receipt), your name & shipping info and phone.

His email addy is musicguymic@aol.com. He had a new phone number posted here in the forum, it's not too many pages deep. He is on Hawaii time, which is 3 hours earlier than West Coast USA (PST). Please don't call too early or in the middle of Hawaii's night, or call repeatedly.

This is a serious deal, and MGM has always done right by his customers. Even closing the business, he is still #1 and deserves our respect and compassion at this time, so please be kind. He needs our support.

Michael, please let us know how you are doing when you can. There is power in prayer, and UU is strong with great people who can send you good thoughts and healing vibes.

04-20-2011, 12:30 AM
Great post, Teek. I agree Michael has always done right by his customers. He went above and beyond. It's so sad that while going through some major health problems, he is plagued by all of this. He definitely deserves our respect, support and compassion at this time.

04-20-2011, 12:42 AM
I hope you get all this bad stuff sorted soon Mike, and resume your special place in our ukulele world.

Take care and try not to stress too much.

Thank you for your great advice, outstanding service and all my treasured ukes.

Mahalo Mate.

04-20-2011, 12:46 AM
Get well soon Mike.

04-20-2011, 01:27 AM
A great loss to the ukulele community. Mike's been a great guy, fair and honest. I bought my first uke ever from him, and several after that. I have a soft spot for him - I've directed many others his way. I hope he gets past these problems and comes to terms in a good way with his illness.

04-20-2011, 01:27 AM
My prayers are with you Michael. I hope you get well soon.

Mike, I wanted to add my voice as one of your very satisfied customers. But more importantly, pledge my prayers for your health & other circumstances that have led you to the decision to close your business for the present. I pray that you will find healing and as you walk through these hard times, you will know that all of us are pulling for you.

Mahalo, brother.

04-20-2011, 02:33 AM
Is he out of business? I certainly hope not. I've bought two ukuleles from him a couple of years ago and it was the best shopping experience I've had. I went to look at the ebay site today and noticed it was empty.

04-20-2011, 02:39 AM
Yes, MGM has closed his store due to his health issues. Thread here:

His post on Facebook reads:

"Due to increasing health problems, I have been forced to close my business. Ebay and my store have been shut down."

Get better soon, Mike! Your health should be priority number one. We're all pulling for you. I look forward to doing more business with you in the future.

04-20-2011, 03:52 PM
Wow! Look at the wealth of positive and sincere postings - true testament to a good guy in bussiness, but more importantly, outside of business. I'm just a recent customer and was treated like a long-time friend. I wish you a speedy recovery. I myself was recently whacked out of left field with a pretty serious diagnosis so way I understand some of the things that your are experiencing. This too shall pass. You are surrounded by people who care and the positve energy and prayer that runs through all these kind words that are flying in at a record pace! Be well. You are one of the "good guys." Be well Mike...

04-20-2011, 04:02 PM
Thoughts and prayers- while we have never done business, my favorite two ukes to play were set up by you...I bought them confidently knowing that.
I have not been here long, but it does not take a long time to realize this is a great loss.
Hope you get the health sorted and return to at the very least playing and spreading the infectious vibe.

04-20-2011, 04:22 PM
Thoughts and prayers to you! I have had a pit in my stomach since finding out you are ill. You are the first person I called when buying my first uke! Hope you will be better soon. I am glad I got to meet you at NAMM.

04-20-2011, 04:42 PM
Very sorry to hear the news. Just got the strings you sent on Monday & went back to your site today & found it empty. Thank you for the great service over the years. Our thoughts & prayers are with you & yours in this difficult time. Hope you will be back in good health very soon.

My prayers are with you...your community misses you!

It was a pleasure to do business with you Mike.

Take Care Mike, it was a pleasure doing business with you!

04-20-2011, 07:20 PM
Best to you, Mike. And thank you so much for treating all of us with such aloha. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

04-20-2011, 07:24 PM
Sorry to hear about your present situation, you have always been so helpful, wishing you a speedy recovery,

04-20-2011, 08:44 PM

You were virtually my introduction to the ukulele community, and if you hadn't been so nice I'm not sure I would have stuck with it through the early frustrating days of learning how to play a stringed instrument. If you get back even a fraction of the aloha you've given, you will have more aloha than you'll ever need. Wishing you the best in your fight to return to good health.

04-21-2011, 12:54 AM
IM sorry to hear about your current situation. Your in our thoughts.

04-21-2011, 01:50 AM
Hey Mike.... Take your time .... get well... We will keep the board warm for you. There will always be a place here for you.
Good luck Mate!

04-21-2011, 04:24 AM
Take care MGM. You've been so influential to many people on this board. Myself included.

I wish you the best in your situation.

04-21-2011, 04:31 AM
Mike, thank you for all the wonderful service you provided to the uke community. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

04-21-2011, 04:44 AM
Best wishes to you and your family Mike. Thank you for all of the great service and ukuleles you have provided to me over the past years.

04-21-2011, 04:55 AM
Like so many here, I got my first uke from Mike. I was more than happy with both the ukulele and my dealings with Mike, who was kind enough to answer a few questions over the phone ahead of time. Get well soon, Mike, and thanks for all your help.

04-21-2011, 06:56 AM
Oh no, that's a bummer. I just bought my first ukes from Mike in February - a stunning Ko'Ahola soprano and a few pink dolphins for my little girls. I was hoping to continue as a customer.

Best wishes Mike.

04-21-2011, 04:00 PM
Mike, this is very sad news. I'm one of your many international customers that's had the privilege of your excellent advice and personal customer service. I wish you a full and speedy recovery.

Take care,

04-21-2011, 04:11 PM
On the top of my prayer list.

04-21-2011, 05:13 PM
Mike, I hope great business with you again. And all uker of the world pray for your speedy recovery. Get well soon.

04-21-2011, 06:21 PM
Wishing you well Mike. You were always great to deal with and have the true aloha spirit.

04-21-2011, 06:47 PM
Pleasure doing business with you Mike! Get well soon!

04-22-2011, 01:42 AM
Sorry to hear this news. I'm still a relative newbie at all of this but, in my short experience, I will say that MGM was awesome... such a big help to me... a minor customer. Always such PERSONAL "personal service." MGM is a special guy. I wish him well and he will be in my prayers... literally.

04-22-2011, 07:42 AM
I wouldn't have my ukulele if not for MGM.

I've wanted a ukulele for a few years now. Problem being that I play lefty, and all you ever hear is "just flip it" when you want to buy one. No, thanks (would you spend hundreds of dollars on a left handed uke and then flip it?).

Anyway, I did a random google search. Found a left-handed Kala on MGM's ebay page, and the rest is history.

Hope he gets better soon.

04-22-2011, 01:40 PM
Mike, be well. I will cherish the ukes I've bought from you.

Forum members, if you hear of ANYTHING we can do to make things easier for Mike, please post it. Prayers help. But there must be something we can do.

04-22-2011, 02:01 PM
Prayers, warm thoughts and good vibes... I've been a regular customer (3 ukes in 1 year, with 4 ukes total) and will miss your speedy service with a smile. Much aloha... best wishes for a full recovery from your health issues, and I hope to see you resume your unique ukulele business. Get well, Mike. We're all here for you...

04-22-2011, 05:21 PM
Like many, I got my first ukulele from Mike - based upon his advice over the phone a couple of years ago. He really got me started with a quality ukulele at the price point that I told him I had to spend. I love that uke. What a tribute to you Mike, to see page after page of well wishes and prayers here on this forum. You are truly appreciated and have had a very positive impact on a lot of people. You have a reputation that you can really be proud of. A reputation can't be purchased; it is earned. Thanks. I hope to see you back again soon.

04-22-2011, 07:08 PM
MCM shipped UKULELE JOY to the world, Now we need to send it back to him.. let the resounding waves of thousands of ukuleles envelope him and aid him in his current life situtation. Hey Mike.. Get better.. I need some more strings..

05-05-2011, 02:05 PM
I and all of us at Mele Ukulele want to send best wishes and healing energy to MGM, a stand-up guy and good businessman, and a kindred soul in trying to share the ukulele and the Aloha Spirit. Hope to have more conversations than the few we've had so far, Mic! Aloha nui loa. JD

05-06-2011, 08:17 AM
Thank you for posting the number. Just was on the phone with Mic for about 15 minutes. He is shipping out my case today. I'm so sad to hear how ill he's been and even sadder to hear that his staff at the store didn't do right by him. Not much I can say about that except that Karma is a bitch.

I was happy to hear that Mic has managed to keep his sense of humor throughout all of this and has a positive outlook.

Lastly, I hope that anyone that was refunded through pay-pal but received their product will do the right thing and send him a check. I know this was posted already - but he asked that people please don't try and get him the money back through pay-pal as they have locked him out. I'm sure anyone who hasn't done so yet, probably just doesn't know the situation. I know for one - I had no idea he was ill and was admittedly frustrated about not hearing back on my order.

God bless you Mic - thoughts and prayers with you for a speedy recovery!

06-03-2011, 03:13 PM
God bless you Mike! I bought two ukes from you, great prices and great service. Praying that you get well!

06-07-2011, 05:48 AM
I bought my first uke in MGM. Never met Mike personally, just talked by phone a few months ago when I was in Hawaii. Thanks Mike for the hard work you did spreading the uke to the world. My best wishes are sent to you.

06-07-2011, 03:31 PM
Saw this at the end of a post on EBay:

"PLEASE CALL 808-927-7297 FOR MORE UKULELE INFO AND ADVICE OR EMAIL US AT hawaiiukulele@hawaii.rr.com. Our expert staff which includes the famous MGM will assist you in finding that perfect ukulele. Aloha Hawaii Beach Girl"

Hope Mike's found a new base and gets back into full swing. I miss him.
