Brother you need to take a break, and let Peter do some work for you.

I was talking to Paul and Ramon, and if you need anything from us, just let us know. Don't worry about the dickheads that don't know what's going on, if there's anyone that can start over and make a run with it, its you. I'm glad you're revamping your focus to get a better net on your sales - sometimes more is not better.

People know who you are, and they will find you again - we all have faith in that. . .and get a new ISP, AOL doesn't seem to be doing you any favors either.

I'll finish your thinline by Summer. . .

I ordered my very first ukulele from you 2 weeks ago, and I hear everyone saying you are very reliable, so take your time man, I'm confident it will arrive one day :).
It's a relieve to hear that it is 'normal' that I didn't receive any tracking information.

I have faith in you man, get well soon. And don't listen to the negative feedback, it's not your fault, they are just ignorant.

Mike, Those of us who have had the pleasure of dealing with you know what a stand up guy you are. Don't worry about what a few bad apples are saying, we have faith in you. Please get better and don't give up. We all look forward to sending our business back to you when you are healthy again (in fact I am shopping for a new uke for my son and your ebay store was the first place I looked even though I had read you had shut it down for now). Take your time getting better, lean on friends and family just like we have leaned on you in the past when you helped so many of us out. Get well soon.

I think your reputation in the Uke community vastly outshines any single unhappy customer my friend. You can be as honest, honorable, and ethical as humanly possible, and there will still be a handful that just are not reasonable and appreciate the ethics in business. Being a former business owner, I know this, and had a hard time letting go of the bad situations myself. But, for my own health I had to, and move on knowing I did my best for them. Some people you just can't make happy, and that is their personal issue, not to be taken onto your own heart brother.

Get better. We hope you can pick up and get back at it when you get your health in order.

God Bless..

Whatever happens, your personal health is more important than anyone else's opinion of you.

I'm so glad you've come here for help and support, so that everyone who's benefited from your great Aloha spirit can return it to you.

Hello Mike,
The Pono MC that I bought is the fifth Hi-End ukulele that you buy with (3 koalohas + 1 Kala smht). I trust in your work and am praying this Easter for his health improves. I made a claim on paypal only, with intent to send you the data from my order, which were made outside of ebay. I made no feedback.

Hang in there Mike. Take care of yourself above all. Far better to have bad eBay feedback from a few people who don't know you than to worsen your condition by overdoing it. When you get healthy and "back in the saddle" - those who know and trust you will know where to find you for their next purchase!

Mike,

I can only imagine how difficult it must be for you to be dealing with the problems you've been having with eBay and PayPal on top of your health issues. As has been said, those of us who have met you and have dealt with you know that you're a great guy who is passionate about getting ukuleles into the hands of people who want them, completely honest, and committed to doing everything you can to satisfy your customers. I'm one of the people who bought ukuleles from you just before your eBay problems came up, and I never had any doubt that you would do everything you could to ship the ukes I bought from you if you were able to figure out (without being able to loook on eBay) what it was that I bought, even with your serious health problems. The people who are complaining about you either have no idea what you've been going through or don't care (which is really sad), but there's nothing they can say or do that would affect by one bit the high respect and aloha that those of us who know you have for you. It sucks that you have to deal with people who can't see beyond their own relatively minor inconveniences, but I hope you've been able to see how much the UU community loves you, and how hard we're all praying for you to get better. Please let us know if there's anything at all anyone can do to help you through these difficult times. Mahalos and blessings.

Mike-

As one who posted negative feedback, I'm sorry. I received the shipping e-mail from ebay the day after I posted it - looking forward to my first uke arriving any day. I also discovered this wonderful forum and website yesterday, found out the reality of your situation and what you're going through. Many apologies - I never would have posted the feedback if I'd known the whole story. Not only my first uke, but also my first ebay purchase, so I'm not sure how the process works, but just let me know how I can revise the negative feedback. I feel bad for kicking you when it's obvious you're trying to do the right thing against increasing obstacles.

I sent messages to the other buyers who left negative feedback with links to this forum so they can see the breadth of love for you and your good business in this community. Hopefully it will go a little way to making things better for you.

Like I said, looking forward to the ukulele. I've played guitar for fifteen years and can't wait to get my hands on it. Looking forward to learning much from the folks at UU and here at the forum....

I tried. It looks like MGM has to initiate it - one of the reasons for my post here. Mike - just lemme know.

Like I said, I've never purchased anything on ebay before. Guess I'm used to the flood of confirmation/shipment emails and quick shipping from Amazon, etc...... the kind of service it sounds like Mike has always provided. I just freaked out and didn't think about trying to figure out why such a reputable seller wasn't living up to what I expected until AFTER I'd posted the feedback.

Way to be a stand up guy Bill. I understand the concerns that some of the buyers have. However, I would hope that they give Michael time to get things straightened out before reacting. For you, I know that this is your first ebay purchase and you weren't aware of Michael's situation. I think most of those on this forum who have outstanding purchases have been understanding and patient.

I don't know if newbies to the uke understand the impact that this one person has on the uke community. Imagine the reaction if Apple decided to stop making iphones. That would be a similar impact that others might understand.

I had the terrible timing of deciding to act on my long-time desire to get a uke last week. I talked to Mike on the phone and he was very helpful and responsive. After our phone conversation I immediately ordered from eBay and then...nothing. I was concerned and a little angry at first, but it was clear that Mike is THE guy in the uke community and that something serious must be wrong for him to not ship my instrument or get back to me.

A little research clued me in. Now I understand and am willing to be as patient as necessary to not be a problem for Mike at this time, when what he needs most is support and caring.

I felt compelled to write to an ebayer (I think the one Mike started this thread about) about the negative feedback left. I was told to mind my own business. Clearly this person is just an ignorant jerk.

Mike, I know it's hard to ignore stuff like this when your integrity and reputation are being smeared, but do the best you can to realize that those who matter know your true character. Even those who just got to know who you are and what you mean to the uke community.

Take care of yourself. Get well. We need you!

Mike, wishing you the best. As someone who does eBay professionally and has heard all the horror stories, here are some things to keep in mind. If you have anyone you can recruit to help with dome of the data entry, I'd really recommend it:

- It is important to get those delivery confirmation numbers in Paypal. If they aren't there or aren't accurate, the buyer can get a refund if they file a claim, even if they did get their item.
- Make sure all payments over $250 are sent with signature confirmation. Otherwise, even if delivery confirmation shows it was delivered, they can say they never got it and Paypal will take the money back.
- Send requests for feedback revisions whenever you can for people who do gt their items delivered. The negatives themselves don't matter much, but the low stars and the open cases can hurt you if you get too. When you're able to sell again, eBay might restrict your account.
- With the higher fees on eBay now and any potential restriction, I'd still recommend eCrater and Bonanza as other venues to sell on if you are looking in the future. You can always sell on multiple venues and not worry as much if you have problems on one.

Hoping for better health for you soon and please try not to stress too much! eBay can be a real pain sometimes but it sounds like you do have people who can help you with things.

I purchased my Kala from Mike, at the end of 2010. We spoke on the phone, I told him what I was looking for, and what my budget was. he suggested the Cedar Top Tenor model, although it was more than I really had budgeted, and I took his advice. I unhesitatingly gave him my credit card number over the phone.

Two days later, the ukulele was sitting at my delivery site. (They closed early on the day it was delivered, so I had to wait for the weekend before I got it.)

I have never been disappointed in Mike. He was knowledgeable, understanding, and had a better grasp of what I needed than I did. And he took care of me.

When our phone conversation started, we were strangers. When we hung up, I felt like I'd been talking to an old friend.

There is a phrase I heard frequently when I visited Hawaii, years ago. I never really understood it, until now.

MusicGuyMic is "Da Kine". Or, as we'd say in Yiddish, he's a Mensch. (Just like Tudorp!)

Best wishes, Mike. I'll always give you the best feedback score possible!

Hello Mike,

I never bought anything from you (though had I had the money, I did fall in love with the lavender Pineapple Sunday, what a beauty!).

I'm new to the uke community, and to ukulele, but which ever site I went on, you appeared! Not only was your ebay store cited, but you were (and still are) described as the best seller in the uke community. Again, had I had the money, I would have bought the ukulele with no doubts, no questions as your reputation precedes you.

Don't worry about a few negative feedbacks. As a regular ebay shopper, I can assure you that with 18 000 positive feedbacks, you shouldn't fret it. You know when looking at feedbacks, that you will always have some grumpy person stating they aren't happy, but some people are NEVER satisfied no matter what you do. They lead a sorry life.

Now, you need to focus on yourself, on the positive and on getting better! It's time to be selfish and egocentric. Rely on your loved ones and let go of anything dragging you down.

Hoping you'll fell better soon!

Hi Mike

I picked up this uke thing about 3 years ago when I bought a cheap uke at a local music store on a whim. I enjoyed it enough to look into getting something better. I did a bit of research and settled on a Kalo spruce top tenor. The problem for me was that there was NO WAY any music store I could get to was likely to have one. The good news was that I had found this forum and everyone on it swore by this MGM guy on ebay. I trusted ukulele underground forum members enough at that point that I bought the instrument from your store. I played the heck out of that uke for about 6 months. I loved it and I still have it.

But I realized I wanted something better and I could afford it. The thing is, we are still talking about late 2008. I live in Connecticut, some of the music stores around here carry better then Mahalo uke's now but they certainly did not then. I had my heart set on a Kanile'a K1T. I could afford the uke but not the trip to Hawaii to buy one.

Luckily, I had already had one great buying experience from this MGM guy. I pulled the trigger on what is to this day my absolute favorite thing.

Mike I thank you for the last 2 and a half years of being able to reach out my arm and being able to play a magical instrument. It sounded amazing the first day I took it out of it's case. It sounds better today(might be the daily practice). I still have so far to go on this journey, but I would never have gotten as far as I have without your ebay store.

To me, when it comes to buying ukes you will always be "The Man". You brought quality ukes at every price range to those of us who could not find them elsewhere, and you often did it at a discount. Anyone I know who has met you in person has nothing but good things to say about you. My advice, for what it's worth, is ignore the idiots. We on this forum know the real deal.

Please get better. There are not enough people in the world like you.

I usually try not to respond on "me too" threads, but I can't resist on this one. Mike you are one of the most straight up people to deal with I have ever encountered! I have purchased about half of my uke collection from you as well as many other items and always recieved the best service and responce to my questions whether it was just a single low g string, or multiple instruments. Don't worry about the whiners, there are many of us who will be waiting in line to do business with you WHEN you get back to good health. As far as I'm concerned you are "DA BES!!"

Mike: Why not set up your own page, and list like 1-2 items on Ebay so ppl who know you there can still find you, but use Ebay as a lead-in to your own page?

You should be able to use any of a number of non-Ebay check outs, and end a lot of paypal hassles. (Paypal is like that bad kid that when he plays with other kids, the other kid does crazy things too .. paypal kept away from Ebay is a lot less evil.)

You could sell through Amazon.

You could sell the older ukes through Etsy.

In 10 years on Ebay before I caught common sense and quit, I saw that people who had a following and stood out, would go away from Ebay and set up their own pages.

Yo. Mahalo for this post. As a first time Uke buyer who is afraid to part with more than 10 bucks on bay, Money was tight and I just kind of had that deep need to buy the Uke after fingering one near where I live. I did not want to buy oe from other than a brudda from the islands. And I looked around and chose Mic's store. The next day I look and the store was gone. I waited and no shipping info. Called up and phone number gone. AAAAAGGGHH Scary ya know? Especially when Ebay sellers can't be trusted sometime. The signs were there. I sent two emails and waited. No response.

Easter came and went. Checked on Ebay, nothing. But for some reason. I stopped panicking and found the feedback somebody left about buying strings on on mic's Ebay feedback and found this thread.

I am very relieved to find out that this person is not a scam artist. Sometimes it is very hard to know who to trust when you cannot see anything about them. It is a bit worrying to part with large sum of cash and then find the next day the store is gone, and no phone number works. Bless him and I will hold some Aloha for the brudda.

Well what do you know! Just as I am typing this, the Uke just arrived at my door.
I will leave good feedback for MGM for aloha.

MY SUGGESTION:
LEAVE A LINK TO THIS FORUM PAGE STRAIGHT UP IN MGM'S profile page on Ebay.

Mike,

Over the past three years, I've bought six ukes from you, and I've ALWAYS had a great experience. Last year at the Lone Star Uke Fest in Dallas, I had a great time sitting and chatting with you at dinner. That evening, you donated a KoAloha soprano to be auctioned for the benefit of James Hill's "Ukes in the Classroom" program, and you served as the auctioneer. I was fortunate enough to win that uke in the auction, and it's now the "go-to" uke that I play every day.

You're in my prayers, and I hope you're back on your feet, soon!

Mike, I just found this thread. Had no idea you were sick. Haven't been to your store for a while as I haven't need another uke. So sorry about your health. I'll never forget your kindness when Jeanne and I met you on Oahu and you took us to dinner and made me do the Elvis impersonation thing. Still enjoying the Kanile'a I bought when you personally met me at Joe's factory. Even though it's an older model, the sound gets better with age. I was just sitting here playing the beautiful little Koaloha soprano I bought from you in Cerritos a few years ago and when I googled your name, I found this thread. I will keep you in my prayers and hope that you get better soon.
Sincerely with much love,
