I really can't play. For some reason I can't memorize chords longer than it takes to get through a song. I've been trying to do exercises but I just can't seem to remember anything.
Anyway. That's beside the point. This is the kind of flash-songwriting I do:

And this one I wrote in about 10 minutes:
I'm trying to move into more interesting chord progressions, but my "pick and choose 4 random chords from a chart" method isn't working out very well. How do you write a great song that doesn't use the generic I IV V I progression?
