Since I had my bandsaw set up and my body pieces are drying out I am startarting on the neck.
I had this burl I found by the roadside and had been saving until it was dry. It seemed dry enough to have a go at it. I cut it up with the chain saw, a valuable Uke making tool, and then band sawed off a set of veneers for a peg head, it was looking so good I did a few of them. This is a box wood burl with some really nice color, even rough sawn it is looking good. when I picked up this burl it did not look this good, you just never know what is inside, the red is not all that common around here, sounds like Forest Gump. I am still at the crude steps here but I still feel like it is another Nubie step to a instrument. Band saw cut these like butter, I am impressed with its performance, just needed a little TLC to get it back into fighting form, more I can say for myself. Cheers Ron.
