This one has had the a fair bit of bling added to it, along with a new bracing pattern that I'm working on. Honduran Rosewood body, fret board, head plate and bridge. Neck is Qld. Maple. Scratch plate is some burl that I got from Tim Spittle at Australian Tonewoods quite some time ago. Top is the off cut from the recent style 5 zircote guitar that I built as a commission.

The top was incredibly stiff and was thinned down to 1.6mm. Uses a CF bridge patch and 5 short fan braces.

Finish is Mirotone 3220 gloss over WEST Systems epoxy.

It's gorgeous... Allen, I hope you don't mind me asking, but how much of a neck angle do you use and what is the radius of the top? What is the radius on the fretboard, do you use a fall away? It looks very clean, loving that rosewood.

The fret board has a 12" radius. Top has a a radius in the top from the lower transverse brace to the tail block. Don't know what it would be exactly, as my solera has just been dished out in the lower bout to where I felt it was right. The neck has a pitch set to it as well. I use a 3mm piece of ply off cut under the nut as a spacer when I glue on the back. Gives me just the right amount for my building style.

Thanks so much for the reply Allen. That's sorta similar to how I do my sopranos and probably just the way I'll do concerts and tenors.

I had my friend Bosko play this uke today along with the Zircote / Surian one I recently completed. So here's a bit of a sound sample / video of this one for you.

Allen, Did you contact cement the scratch plate onto the top after the finish was applied?

I used a double sided tape for scratch plates that I got at either LMI or StewMac. Was a large roll and I bought it so long ago that I can't recall where I got it.

I think Bosko liked this one better than the other one. Seemed to get a bit more lost in it. Thanks for the sound sample.

This one has a 12" radius on the fret board and he really liked the feel of it. He was also pretty rapped with the tone on this one, but it has been strung up a fair bit longer than the Zircote one, so has opened up.
