My mate and I just bought a UBass. I will only have it some of the time to practise on. I haven't played much bass - I thought I would look at stringing up a soprano uke to EADG to mess about with when the bass is not with me. I have a bunch of strings in my collection, but before I try and work it out - has anyone done this? Is there a combination of sop/concert/tenor strings that will give the right notes, several octaves higher, on a soprano uke?

I'd try what Aquila calls "Guitar tuned Tenor" strings in DGBE. They're for a longer tenor scale, so they'll have less tension on your shorter scale, but they're also designed for higher tension and you're tuning a full step higher so you might get away with it. Otherwise, I'd check out the different scale/tension charts that are out there and see if you mix and match some that come close.
