I think the aquilas made it sound a bit brighter and snappier sounding. I talked to the guy at Goldtone by email a couple of times and he told me they were going to start putting Aquilas on all their banjo ukes soon.

Sounds great to me!
Do you have the head tuned to a certain pitch or torque?

I dont really know since it came set up this way from the shop where i bought it. the tech said most of the set ups they have done on these required the head to be tightened some what.

it plays really nice.

now if i could only be a little smoother on those B chords :-) .................

hey

when i ordered the uke i ordered a set of aquila's and will put them on some day. a little bit trickier with the movable bridge..

I almost hate to mess with it.

thx eor

Am I the only person who thinks it's amazing that a guy with no head plays ukulele so well?;)

Oh... Never mind. I just checked out his youtube channel. Not only dies he have a head, but he has great sense of humor, sings, and plays a wicked blues harp too.

I have the same model. I chose it over 3 others bajo ukes I played the same day. All three of the others brands had so many overtones that the sound of the strings hardly stood out- the BUC had a nice balance of good string sound and banjo overtones- its loud and fun :)!
