ok so ive been away from home for awhile and finally came back to find my last remaining ukulele (my waverly street) with a really long crack down the back of the body (bout 6 inches long) and about a mm wide. whats the best way to fix this? hide glue?.

That's a pretty big crack to fix by percussing hide glue into it. Have you re-humidified it? See if you can get the crack to close. I've put a damp sponge (along with other humidifiers) in a closed case with a cigar box hygrometer for a few days/week to close a small crack, before precussing hide glue.

Make certain the sponge is not touching any wood. Good luck. It may take a while for the uke to humidify.
If the crack closes, you might try the hide glue, check out this video for fixing a crack in a uke.
