I'm thinking about purchasing the Kala Exotic Mahogany Tenor. I know it's a laminate, but I've heard that it's a thinner layer of it than other laminate tops, so it still project relatively well. I'm trying to purchase something relatively decent for the price because it's my first uke, and that's about the top of my budget. Thoughts on the Kala Exotic Mahogany Tenor?:)

Listen to a properly set up one. Considerng for $174 it's a whole package, free shipping included, If you want one, this may be the place:

There's a nice used one on Fleamarket: http://www.fleamarketmusic.com/marketplace/default.asp

There are several ukes in your price range however that have solid spruce tops with gorgeous laminte sides and backs if you look.
